Changes In Visa Appointment Rescheduling: Fairer, Faster and Pricier?

Changes to Visa Appointment Rescheduling: fairer, faster and pricier? The availability of visa appointment slots has been tough since covid times. It taking months to find an appointment in any location in India.

The US embassy of India has announced they are making changes to the process of visa appointments to make it fairer and faster.

The announcement says you can book your first nonimmigrant visa appointment at any location you prefer. If you need to reschedule, you can do so once for free.

However, the application fees has to be paid again if the applicant needs to reschedule or miss the appointment. The US embassy in India suggests to book an appointment on the date they can attend for sure and stick to the scheduled appointment, amid the long wait times.

Well, getting an appointment is hard until now and rescheduling more than once is a costly affair now. Currently, three reschedules are allowed and with the changes one needs to be careful while blocking a date.
