YouTube to Remove Videos With Clickbait Thumbnails, Starting In India

The videos with clickbait thumbnails always have been annoying and many a time they carry misinformation. The practice of putting up manipulated lines in thumbnails is being followed by thousands of YouTubers and very soon, this is going to end.

YouTube has vowed to deal with ‘Egregious clickbait’ on its website, particularly those that cover or pretend to cover breaking news and current events. YouTube described egregious clickbait as ‘videos where the title or thumbnail promises viewers something that the video doesn’t deliver.’

YouTube says these videos leave viewers ‘feeling tricked, frustrated, or even misled’. Many viewers by now have trained themselves on being able to spot and skip clickbait, yet there are a large number of people who do not know the difference between legitimate and clickbait content.

The Website will start cracking down on clickbait videos in India. It will delete any video that violates this policy without issuing strikes. First, it will go through old videos and then will prioritize new uploads.

It has to be seen how many YouTube channels will be affected by the new policy of shutting down the clickbait practise.
