An incident that resembles a gruesome crime that occurred in Delhi two years ago has now shocked Hyderabad. In that infamous case, a man murdered his lover, dismembered her body, and stored the parts in a fridge before dumping them in stages in a forest. That crime had shaken the entire country. Now, a similar horrific incident has occurred right here in Hyderabad, specifically in Meerpet.
A former army soldier, Gurumurthy, grew suspicious of his wife, Madhavi, and eventually killed her. Not only did he murder her, but he also chopped her body into pieces, boiled them in a cooker, and then packed the remains into bags and disposed of them in a nearby lake, where fish consumed the body parts.
The shocking incident took place on January 18. Gurumurthy had served as a soldier in the Indian Army and, after retirement, settled in Toopran, a locality near Meerpet. He had a wife, Madhavi, and two children. He received a pension from his military service and also worked as a security guard for a private company. He and Madhavi had been married for 13 years.
In recent times, Gurumurthy had grown suspicious of his wife, which led to frequent arguments. On the night of January 17, the situation escalated, and Gurumurthy killed Madhavi in their home.
After the murder, Gurumurthy dismembered her body, boiled the pieces in a cooker, and packed them into bags. He then took the bags to a nearby district lake, where the fish fed on the body parts. Police later confirmed that the remains were consumed by the fish and other organisms in the lake.
