Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla is all set to become the first Indian astronaut to travel to the International Space Station (ISS). On the whole, he will become the second Indian to go to space after Rakesh Sharma.
Shubhanshu Shukla will pilot the Axiom-4 mission aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft after spring 2025. This will be a joint effort by NASA and ISRO, which will have three crew members, including Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski from Poland and Tibor Kapu from Hungary, along with Shubhanshu Shukla. In this 14-day mission, the crew members will conduct experiments on deep space exploration.
In an online press conference organised by NASA, Shukla said that he has a personal agenda in space where he wants to capture videos and photos and share them with fellow Indians. He said even though it is an individual traveling to space, this is a journey of 1.4 billion Indians.
Shukla also planned to take some unique things from various parts of India to the International Space Station. He also plans to perform Yoga at the ISS after docking.
