‘When she came here from India…’: Kamala Harris Remembers Mom

Indian origin African-American Kamala Devi Harris created history by becoming the first Vice President-elect of the United States of America. Soon after her landmark victory, Kamala gave an inspiring speech as she addressed the USA and the entire world.

During her speech, Kamala visibly turned emotional as she remembered her mother Shyamala Gopalan Harris. “When my mother came here from India at the age of 19, she may not have imagined this moment. But she deeply believed that in America, a moment like this is possible,” Kamala said as the crowd cheered her.

Kamala’s inspiring speech was inspiring shall give hope to the current and future generations. “At this moment, I remember all the black women, Latina, White and Native American women who, for generations, have paved the way for this moment. I may be the first female Vice President of America, but I certainly will not be the last,” she said amidst a thunderous response.
