After deporting illegal immigrants from the US, President Donald Trump announced his plan of selling the highly-prized US citizenship for $5 million, “gold card” visa, to rake in the moolah from wealthy investors.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said the visas would function similar to green cards, allowing immigrants of different level incomes to live and work permanently in the US but they are aimed at drawing in “high-level people”.
“If we sell 10 million, which is possible, that’s $50 trillion. That means our debt is totally paid off, and we have $15 trillion above that.”
He suggested that the revenue from the high-priced visas could be used to pay off US debt.
However, Trump’s math could seriously go wrong as only 3 million people are available with that extremely high amount of money in the world and half of them are already living in the US, comments seen on socialmedia.
While Trump is expecting to sell nearly 10 million cards and earn heavily from them, the actual number is a meagre 3 million and half of them are already living in the US, leaving only a miniscule of 1.5 mn potential applicants, once the programme is likely to come into effect from April.
Unless Trump gets his numbers properly and arrive at the correct equations, it is likely that his calculations and expectations might go for a toss and leave him in a delusion.
