Meta has introduced ‘Teen Accounts’ feature for the Instagram users under the age of 16. This is being implemented as part of their updated security policy for the teens, to make the platform secure. Additionally, Meta has blocked their ability livestream to unblur nudity in direct messages without parental approval.
The social networking platform has granted teen account program to the parents in September last year, to supervise their children’s online presence. As an upgrade to the same, Meta blocked the users under the age of 16 from using the Instagram Live feature. They would need the permission of parents first.
The other features that will be brought available as part of this program for teens are that the teen accounts will be set to private by default, the private messages from strangers gets blocked, strict limits on sensitive content like fight videos, reminders to get off the app after 60 minutes and notifications being paused during bed time hours.
The latest security feature will be first available to the users in the United States, Britain, Canada and Australia.
