The giant video streaming platform YouTube announced that it is breaking the 10-year long tradition of annual rewind video in 2020. The YouTube Rewind video of the year usually had the most viral moments, trends, and most popular videos from throughout the year.
2020 has not been the same as every year and YouTube wanted to take a break from ‘Rewind’, choosing not to recall how hard and tough this year was.
The announcement from YouTube mentioned the same with words ‘Since 2010, we’ve ended the year with Rewind: a look back at the year’s most impactful creators, videos, and trends. Whether you love it – or only remember 2018 – Rewind was always meant to be a celebration of you,’.
‘But 2020 has been different. And it doesn’t feel right to carry on as if it weren’t. So, we’re taking a break from Rewind this year. ‘
‘We know that so much of the good that did happen in 2020 was created by all of you. You’ve found ways to lift people up, help them cope, and make them laugh. You made a hard year genuinely better.
‘Thank you for making a difference.’
The mixed opinions were flooded in the replies to YouTube’s announcement on ‘Rewind’. While some totally agreed with YouTube’s decision on Rewind, some disagreed saying why Rewind 2020 should be there to show plenty of positivity around.
