Critics Applaud Netflix’s Original Ludo

Published by

The intriguing movie, Ludo, revolves around the lives of Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Rohit Saraf, Pearle Maaney and Shalini Vatsa. The movie is an analogy between real lives with the game Ludo, while Anurag Basu is watching over the characters.

And just like the game of Ludo, the characters cross paths, speed past each other and sometimes become the reason for the other to go down. Looks like Anurag Basu has taken the feedback for Jagga Jasoos positively and implemented it in the screen play of Ludo. The movie is brilliantly structured and entertaining.

Pankaj Tripathi plays the character of Sattu Bhai, who is a mafia boss with spiky hairdo, dressed up in a jacket over lungi paired with yellow shades. His intention behind killing people is to set their souls free by giving them a chance to start afresh, rather than just killing.

Bittu, played by Abhishek Bachchan is released from jail only to realize that his wife and daughter have already moved on. His quest to get his daughter back is more about satisfying his ego than out of love. He is put in a complicated spot to either right his wrong or just continue living the life he has led all this while.

Rajkummar Rao (Aloo) is a crazy Mithun da fan who owns a restaurant and dances to his tunes whenever anxious. He is a one-woman-guy who hasn’t moved on from his childhood love, Fatima Shaikh (Pinky). He is put in a difficult position when Pinky reaches out to him to help her husband who is sent to jail accused of murder.

Aditya Roy Kapur (Akash) and Sanya Malhotra (Ahana) are in jeopardy as a video clip of them is released and has gone viral on the internet. A week away from Ahana’s wedding; they try to solve the issue. Meanwhile, Rohit Saraf (Rahul) and Pearle Manney (Sheeja) are employees who get bullied at work and are unaware of the twists their lives are going to take.

Huge credits to the master mind behind Ludo, Anurag Basu, for his intricate skills at show-casing the madness of the movie without complicating it while also, presenting the bird’s-eye view of each character on a Ludo board. The frames, color scheme and the metaphor of Ludo representing life are the highlights of the movie.
