A hot air balloon carrying 21 passengers caught fire and crashed in Brazil’s Santa Catarina state on Saturday. The tragic incident happened during a morning tourist flight near the city of Praia Grande.
At least eight people died in the accident, while thirteen others were injured and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and checking if safety rules were followed.
The crash has raised serious concerns about balloon tourism safety in the region. Just a week ago, a similar accident in São Paulo state left one person dead and several others injured.
