It is known that the Godavari people have a rich legacy when it comes to consuming meat products. This is the reason why seafood and prawn industry thrive in the Godavari region, apart from the customary poultry industry.
On top of that, we are now nearing the monsoon season which brings with it the most famous “Pulasa” fish season and we are already witnessing this madness in the region.
Incidentally, there are several viral videos of the famous Pulasa fish auctions trending all over social media. In one such video we see a single Pulasa fish fetching Rs 22,000 in an open market auction.
This is insanely, costly fishery item and it comes with a massive reputation as well, considering the cultural significance that the Pulasa fish hold here in this region.
For those who don’t know about this famous Pulasa fish variety, it is a supremely popular fish in the Godavari region, which swims upstream against the tide to lay eggs. It is primarily transporting from oceanic waters to fresh waters for reproduction and thus is when they’re caught.
This fish is known for its distinctive, and a few even believe that it has some medicinal properties. This is the reason why every year these Pulasa fish go for thousands of rupees. There will be times, even when a single fish can touch Rs 50,000 or more based on the competition.
