Inter Girl Suicide – A Must Discussion On Education Pressure

A 16-year-old girl named Shivani, who was studying first-year MPC in Intermediate in Hanumakonda, died by suicide after struggling with academic pressure.

Before taking this extreme step, Shivani wrote a letter to her mother. In it, she said, “Mummy, please educate my younger sister well. But this education is not for me. No matter how hard I try, I can’t understand anything. In the end, death is my only option.” Her words show the deep pain and helplessness she was feeling.

Shivani mentioned in her letter that everyone around her expected her to do well in studies, but she was unable to cope. She said she had nothing to say to her parents or teachers when she couldn’t study or perform well. That pressure made her feel completely broken inside.

Even during her final moments, Shivani asked her parents to take care of her younger sister and not put her through the same pressure. Her love for her sister and concern for her future were clear.

This tragic incident shows how harmful academic pressure can be. Many students are forced into courses they don’t like or understand, just to meet their parents’ expectations. When they fail to keep up, they suffer silently and feel trapped.

Parents and colleges need to understand what their children are going through. Instead of forcing them, they should support and guide them in what they are truly interested in. Talking openly, showing care, and understanding their struggles can save lives.

Shivani’s letter is a warning to all families. It’s time to stop pushing children beyond their limits and start listening to them before it’s too late.
