FASTag Annual Pass Launched, Conditions Apply!

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) rolled out the FASTag Annual Pass for private cars, jeeps and vans on Friday.  Priced at Rs 3,000 for 2025-26, the annual pass allows private vehicle owners up to 200 trips at designated National Highway and National Expressway toll plazas, or remains valid for one year from activation, whichever comes earlier. If the highway or expressway is state or private, then the vehicle owner will not be able to obtain free entry with the annual FASTag pass.

The Annual Pass is designed for frequent highway travelers, avoiding the need for repeated recharging of FASTag cards for toll payments and ensuring quicker, smoother passage through eligible toll gates.

Where to buy the pass from?

Download the Rajmarg Yatra App or Visit the NHAI website. You can activate the annual pass only through Rajmarg Yatra mobile app or the official NHAI website as the link of the mobile app is available there and also on the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).

How to Activate the Pass?

To activate the pass, fill the details of your mobile number or vehicle registration number. Confirm that your FASTag is active, properly affixed to your vehicle, linked to a valid vehicle registration number (VRN), and not blacklisted. If your FASTag is registered with the chassis number only, update it with your VRN. Provide Vehicle details with FASTag ID. If necessary, upload supporting documents such as your RC, owner’s ID and address proof, and a passport-sized photograph.

Make the payment of Rs 3,000 and it will be activated in two hours of the payment. You will receive an SMS confirmation after successful activation. Then the pass can be used for a year.

At fee plazas on Expressways, State Highways (SH), the FASTag will operate as a regular one, and applicable user fee charges may apply.

Is it necessary for existing users to buy a new FASTag?

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways says that those who already have a FASTag on their vehicles will not need to purchase a new FASTag. This pass will be activated on your existing one. However, KYC of the FASTag is a must to obtain the annual pass.

Benefits of purchasing annual pass

  • One can save Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 in toll tax. Besides, there will be no need to worry of running out of recharge in the middle of a trip.

Limitations of the Annual Pass

  • It is applicable only at designated National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) toll plazas.
  • Not valid for State Highways, city tolls, local body-operated plazas or parking facilities, where FASTag charges will apply.
  • Using the pass for a different vehicle will lead to deactivation. The pass can be blacklisted.
  • The pass is valid exclusively for the vehicle to which FASTag is linked, affixed and registered.
