Thanks to the long weekend due to the Independence Day and Sri Krishna Janmashtami, a substantial portion of the Hyderabad population left to their hometowns last week. This essentially meant that the city had freed up a fair bit.
However, with the long weekend finally drawing to close yesterday, the city population started to return back to the city. Subsequently, there was a pretty substantial traffic flow towards Hyderabad through the highways.
The Hyderabad and Vijayawada Highway was on high alert with massive incoming traffic towards the city. It is reportedly, taking several hours to clear the highway tolls and enter the city premises.
The toll roads are filled with cars that are heading towards the city and the government buses are also reportedly overflowing.
The pending flyover works at Chityala and Peddakaparthi are also reportedly constraining the traffic further as police are working overtime to clear out the traffic situation.
