Aravind was born on June 7, 1994, in Chennai. From his childhood he had a deep interest in science. He studied at IIT Madras and even taught courses on reinforcement learning during his time there. Later, he moved to the University of California, Berkeley, where he pursued a PhD in computer science and worked on advanced areas like computer vision, reinforcement learning, image generation, and video generation.

After his studies, Aravind gained experience with some of the world’s top tech giants. He worked at OpenAI on reinforcement learning, at DeepMind in London on contrastive learning, and later joined Google, where he contributed to vision models like HaloNet and ResNet-RS. He then returned to OpenAI as a research scientist and was part of the team that developed the revolutionary text-to-image model DALL-E 2.

In August 2022, Aravind co-founded Perplexity AI with Denis Yarats and Andy Konwinski. The company created an AI-powered search and chat engine designed to give users quick, accurate, and reliable answers. Within a short time, it has become one of the most promising AI startups in the world, drawing attention from global tech leaders.

Along with building Perplexity AI, Aravind has also invested in other AI startups like ElevenLabs and Suno, expanding his influence in the industry.
