ISRO’s Baahubali Launched Successfully

The Indian Space Research Organisation on Sunday launched the heaviest communication satellite from Indian soil and successfully placed it in orbit, marking a stupendous achievement in the country’s space exploration.

The satellite, which weighs 4,410 kg, flew onboard a new-generation homegrown LVM3-M5 Baahubali rocket into orbit from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota Andhra Pradesh.

According to ISRO, CMS-03 is a multi-band communication satellite which will provide services over a wide oceanic region including the Indian landmass. The satellite was placed in the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit and acts as a replacement to the GSAT 7 series which was launched in 2013.

It was designed to provide communication services for the next 15 years and also assumes significance for being example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat ( self-reliant India).

The rocket was titled Baahubali due to its heavy launch capabilities. Scientists at ISRO had a tough time due to the inclement weather conditions. However, they successfully launched it without any delay and failure. ISRO Chief V Narayanan hailed the team behind this achievement. This launch marks another notable stride in the country’s push to develop high end space infrastructure indigenously.

Meanwhile, director SS Rajamouli congratulated ISRO for the successful launch and called it a proud moment for the country. He said the entire team of Baahubali is elated as the rocket was named after the film’s title due to its heaviness and strength.
