In what could be another heart-breaking news to wake up, at least 23 people have been killed after a fire broke out at a popular nightclub in Goa, one of the most popular tourist place in India. The incident happened on Saturday midnight in Arpora in North Goa district.
As per preliminary reports, a massive fire broke out at Birch by Romeo Lane after midnight due to a cylinder blast. The magnitude of the blast was so high that many of the casualties were due to suffocation. Most of the dead were the club’s kitchen workers, and included three women. Among the victims are a few tourists, but the exact details of deceased are yet to be confirmed.
The popular party venue at Arpora village, around 25 km from the state capital Panaji, opened last year. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant rushed to the spot immediately and ordered an immediate inquiry into the unfortunate incident. He stated that a strict action will be taken against the owners of club and officials for not following safety norms.
As soon as the news broke out, firefighters and police teams rushed to the spot immediately to bring the situation under control. While three people died due to severe burns, remaining succumbed to suffocation.
