Royal Challengers Bengaluru pace bowler Yash Dayal, who hogged the limelight with his clutch performances during the last two seasons of Indian Premier League, was accused in a POSCO case for sexually assaulting a minor and blackmailing her with a promise of career advancement. Despite facing serious allegations, he was retained by his franchise for the upcoming season.
In a big setback to Uttar Pradesh based cricketer, the POSCO Court of Jaipur has now turned down his bail petition after the judge felt that prima facie evidence suggests that the case was not falsely implicated. While the investigation into the allegations is currently on, Yash Dayal has approached the Court for protection from arrest and filed an anticipatory bail petition.
After hearing the arguments from both sides, the Court has denied to give any respite to Yash Dayal. Police are reportedly treating chats, pictures and videos from the girl’s mobile, along with call records and hotel stay details, as key evidence under POCSO provisions in this case.
However, Dayal’s lawyer contended that his client met the girl in public places and also accused the complainant of demanding money in the name of financial issues.
In his petition, the pacer maintained that the allegations against him are false and fabricated to harass and extort money. Despite his version, the Court refused to grant him anticipatory bail. The case pertains to an FIR filed a few months ago in connection with a complaint made by one lady cricketer who alleged that Dayal lured her on fake promises to help her career and resorted to physical assualt.
It is unclear whether RCB will continue to associate with Yash Dayal or not in the upcoming season. Dayal played an instrumental role in the franchise’s maiden title victory in 2025.
