Telangana GST officials have intensified their action against tax evasion across the state. As part of this drive, the Managing Director of the private transport company Orange Travels, Sunil Kumar, has been arrested in connection with a major GST evasion case.
After closely monitoring the company’s financial transactions, officials conducted a detailed inspection of Orange Travels’ records. During the investigation, authorities found evidence suggesting that the company had allegedly evaded GST amounting to around Rs 28 crore.
Based on these findings, GST officials took Sunil Kumar into custody on charges of tax evasion and causing loss to the government exchequer. The arrest has drawn attention as Sunil Kumar is not only a businessman but also has political links.
He had earlier contested the Assembly elections from the Balkonda constituency on a Congress ticket. Due to his political background and ownership of a major travel company, the arrest has become a topic of discussion in political and business circles across Telangana.
Sources also indicated that GST authorities may continue inspections on other private travel operators and business establishments in the state as part of the ongoing crackdown on tax evasion.
