Andhra Pradesh government has been very firm on the decision to restrict children under 16 years from using social media. Chief minister Chandrababu and IT Minister Lokesh recently stated that they’re considering an action plan to restrict kids under 16 from social networking.
Now the latest developments are suggesting that the Indian government is also contemplating something very similar in terms of age restriction for social applications.
Union IT Minister, Ashwini Vaishnav pointed out that he has opened discussions with social platforms to restrict kids under 16 years from using the same. He notified that the government had called for reactions from leading platforms like Instagram, Facebook, (X)Twitter, and others in this regard.
The point to be noted here is that this new method of operation that is being considered by the Indian government is in sync with Andhra Pradesh government’s intentions. Shortly after Andhra Pradesh, communicated this new initiative, Goa also sought a similar plan.
Now it is evident that the formula that was written in motion by Andhra Pradesh is being considered at the national level by the union government. It has to be seen when this would actually come to materialisation.
Another point to be noted here is that the Indian government has a series of pointers to make note of considering the Australian government had already started to impose this in the country. Crucial knowledge can be obtained from Australia to impose this to the fullest capacity.
