Wars, Tariffs, AI… Dark Times Ahead, How To Survive?

We are living in Dark Times. The Russia and Ukraine War is not over and then, we have the United States and Iran striking at each other. There are speculations that this will become a fully blown war very soon and all the countries may have to take sides.

The Problems are far from being over. We have Donald Trump at the helm of affairs in the United States behaving like a lunatic imposing Tariffs over all the countries for no reason.

And then, we hear Dollar becoming weak as the debt of the United States has reached all-time high and many countries opting for De-Dollarization. The Central Banks across the globe are in the business of aggressively accumulating Gold indicating uncertain times ahead.

On the other side of the coin, there is this AI revolution happening. As each day passes, it appears like no job is secured. The rate at which several Huge MNCs are into Layoffs, it appears like there is going to be an absolute bloodbath in the days to come.

So how will a common man survive this mayhem?

The next eighteen months appear highly unusual. This period may trigger a shift in how the world progresses.

If you are into IT or something, read about the AI advancements every day, assess if AI can replace your job, check if there is a chance to upskill your domain in a very short time, and if there is any chance, prepare yourself. It’s not just about IT. Just think no one is immune and no job is immune.

During this period, save as much as you can. Avoid big purchases like Cars and House. Do not fall into EMI Trap in these uncertain times. Arrange for Medical and Personal Insurances. If you can, build an emergency fund of 6-12 months.

If you are investing in Gold and other Metals, do not fear the fluctuations. Hold them as much as possible.

If you are unfortunately laid off, try to extract as much as severance package as possible. Plan your expenses and EMIs carefully. Cut off any non-essential expenses (dining outside, subscriptions, entertainment, etc) until you find a new job. Rent, Food, Utilities, and Loans repayment should be top priority. And then, Upskill and search for jobs. Check for Freelance Gigs for short-term survival.

For the next eighteen months, hold on to whatever you can and survive. If you survive and was able to stand on your feet, you will have a story to tell for the future generations.
