Will Oil Crisis Bring Back Work From Home?

The onset of the Covid pandemic mandated the work from home culture as companies instructed employees to work from their homes in order to avoid social gatherings at office spaces.

However, in the last couple of years, several global companies have instructed their employee to return to officers in order to enhance the working rate. And just when people thought normalcy was being restored, things are going back again.

Due to the shortage of oil and natural gas supply, which is a result of the prevailing tense situation in Strait of Hormuz which is governed by Iran, the work from home culture could be returning soon.

The oil prices are going up steeply, and the availability of natural gas is going down due to the restrictions on international trade and transportation. The results are so very aggressive that hotels in India temporarily setting down due to the shortage in commercial gas supply.

On that note, several countries have started to impose precautionary measures with regard to public commute. Countries like Vietnam and Pakistan have started to instruct employees and even general public to stay indoors to conserve fuel.

Developed countries are also contemplating the area of enforcing work from home in order to restrict gas consumption. At this point, it should not be too long before India is also required to act accordingly.

If the situation with petrol and gas supply does not improve soon, we could be witnessing the return of the work from home culture as governments will look to reduce dependency on fuel, commented a subject expert.
