Strait Of Hormuz Open, But Will It Help India?

One of the geographically significant and quintessential oil trade water routes, Strait of Hormuz had been under severe distress since the conflict arose between United States and Iran. This geographical location is controlled by the Iran government and they categorically restricted the usage of this passage which led to oil and gas supply issues globally.

United States president, Donald Trump has publicly communicated that he would do everything in his power to occupy the water route if Iran does not voluntarily give up the same within 48 hours. He even labelled Iran as a finished entity and there’s nothing left to do here.

However, the Iranian administration has reacted sharply to the remark by Donald Trump as they made a very significant remark on the Strait of Hormuz.

“The illusion of erasing Iran from the map shows desperation against the will of a history-making nation. Threats and terror only strengthen our unity. The Strait of Hormuz is open to all except those who violate our soil. We firmly confront delirious threats on the battlefield” Iran president Masoud Pezeshkian tweeted a short while back.

The fact that Iran says this strategic water passage is open for everyone, except for Iran’s enemies is a major global news. The most concerning factor here for India is the 22 vessels belonging to the country that are stuck here due to Iran’s restrictions.

It has to be seen in their latest reassurance about opening the passage for all other countries will directly benefit India and release the stuck up oil vessels bound to the country.
