No Chicken From Tomorrow: Can Hyd Foodies Adjust?

All of Telangana has extremely high meat consuming culture, and it is pretty much a part of the lifestyle here for many decades. This is perhaps one of the main reasons why Telangana and particularly Hyderabad sell some of the highest volume of meat per capita anywhere in the country. 

However, Telangana is going to deal with a pretty significant challenge as chicken shops across the state, have announced an indefinite strike starting from tomorrow, April 1.

The chicken shop management and owners have communicated that they are unable to run the business with the existing profit margin and have called for measures from the authorities regarding the same. So they have collectively decided to shut down the chicken shops in the state from tomorrow.

This is going to be a pretty significant challenge for the public, considering the high dependency on chicken across the state. Needless to say chicken is the primary source of protein and is pretty much a staple food in Telangana cuisine.

When we look at the alternatives, the price of mutton is extremely high as compared to chicken, and it can trend anywhere between Rs 900-1000 in most parts. This is not a commercial source of protein like chicken, so procuring it at a large quantity is not feasible for the masses. 

It has to be seen how Telangana would cope up with this challenge in the next few days, considering the indefinite strike that is starting tomorrow. It could perhaps open the doors for black market as well, and it would be ironic for the Telangana public to deal with such a scenario when it comes to buying chicken.
