A couple of days ago, Iran’s military group Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has threatened to blow up the companies of several tech giants of USA located in Middle East as a retaliatory measure against killing of its leaders and warned the employees to save themselves. The faction claimed that these companies are assisting US and Israel in the military operations.
On Wednesday, Amazon’s cloud computing operation in Bahrain was damaged after an Iranian missle strike. Even Bahrain authorities also confirmed the attack without formally naming the company. Now, Iran’s IRGC has claimed that it struck Oracle Data Centre in Dubai on Thursday evening. In its latest statement carried by state media, the IRGC said it had directly targeted the company’s data centre in Dubai.
The Dubai Government, however, categorically denied the reports circulating online and stated that no such attack took place. But, IRGC further claimed that it had targeted several parts of UAE, Bahrain and Israel as part of its counterattack following strikes by the United States and Israel on key Iranian industrial sites, including major steel plants.
While conflicting statements from both Iran and UAE continue to emerge, US is yet to fully respond on the rising threats from IRGC. When the revolutionary group issued an ultimatum to 18 tech companies, Trump brushed aside the warnings. The war has now entered the second month, yet there is no sign of complete ceasefire even though Trump hinted about halting the military action following negotiations.
