It was not too long before BYJU’S was one of the most valued online educational institutions in India, and perhaps even across the globe. But things went down after the Covid pandemic as certain discrepancies in evaluation and company management came out.
The chief of BYJU’s, Ravindran was adamant about stepping down as he decided to take the company down with him, and the consequences are being now.
The latest news is that the Singapore court has sentenced Raveendran to 6 months in prison for failing to disclose the assets and financial conditions despite the court order. He has been booked under the contempt of court order.
Going into the story, founder Raveendran has reportedly been sentenced to six months in prison by a Singapore court in a contempt case for failing to comply with multiple court orders related to asset disclosures since April 2024.
From being one of the most valued educational institutions in India five years ago to this historic downfall, BYJU’S is a case study for business students out there.
However, Byju Raveendran released a statement saying the Singapore court ruling presents a misleading narrative, as settlement talks with lenders are nearing a conclusion.
He denied any wrongdoing and said the disputed funds were used for business purposes.
