The first spell of monsoon rains have hit Hyderabad, and this was welcomed with insane traffic congestion across the city. Even simple distances of 2 to 3 km, took more than an hour as travellers had a tough time reaching their destinations.
Crucial urban pockets like Kondapur and Gachibowli received a lot of rainfall and there was almost neckdeep waterlogging that was observed on the roads.
Subsequently, several vehicles got stuck in the middle of the road, and could go nowhere as the rainwater accumulated big time. This created a very problematic situation on the urban roads across the city.
While the rains were much needed to cool down temperatures and brought a pleasant breeze across the city, they also led to severe traffic congestion, leaving commuters stranded for hours.
The IKEA flyover, which forms the heart of the city was absolutely flooded with stuck vehicles, and this created an absolute scene as people are unable to move out of the traffic for hours together.
Hyderabad has become a traffic hotbowl over the torrential monsoon rains and this could be an indication of what’s to come over the next two months period.
