Some of the biggest technological and social media platforms across the globe have been seriously restructuring the human workforce. Recently, it was the case of Meta, which fired more than 16,000 of its employees globally.
Now the stage is being prepared for a massive layoff operation at Microsoft as the company is preparing to fire several thousands of employees across different working sectors and projects.
Reportedly, Microsoft is planning a new round of layoffs affecting under 2.5% of its workforce, which could be announced as early as next week,
With approximately 228,000 full time employees as of June 2025, the layoffs could affect thousands of roles across sales, consulting and the Xbox gaming division. Conservative estimates suggest that around 5,000 Microsoft employees could lose their jobs in the coming days.
Xbox has already been flagged for major layoffs this month, alongside significant cuts to marketing budgets as the new Gaming CEO of the company has called for serious resets to the prevailing workforce and its operations.
On the other hand, we have TikTok, which is one of the leading social media platforms in the world and they are prepared to fire around 300 employees in their European headquarters of Dublin.
It has become a monthly practice for big companies to 5000s of employees and it looks like this blood is not going to stop in the near future either.
