The suspicious death of a 27 year old woman from Visakhapatnam at a homestay in Mussoorie has taken a major turn. Uttarakhand Police have arrested her husband, Sricharan, as the investigation into the case continues.
Radha Gayatri and Sricharan, both software professionals, got married in November last year. Gayatri was working in Gurugram, while Sricharan was employed in Pune. Last month, the couple travelled to Uttarakhand to celebrate Sricharan’s birthday and stayed at a homestay in Mussoorie.
The next morning, police received information that Gayatri was lying unconscious in the room. Officers rushed to the spot, but doctors confirmed that she had already died. During the initial investigation, police found bloodstains in the room. However, the postmortem could not confirm the exact cause of death, and forensic reports are still awaited.
Gayatri’s parents alleged that their daughter was murdered and filed a complaint against Sricharan. Based on their complaint, police registered a murder case and later arrested him.
The Dehradun district administration has also ordered a magisterial inquiry. Investigators are looking into what exactly happened inside the homestay and why the postmortem was conducted before Gayatri’s parents reached Uttarakhand. Police say the final conclusions will depend on the forensic reports and other evidence collected during the investigation.
