Significant breakthrough in Corona Vaccine

Published by

In a significant breakthrough, Israel’s Defence Minister Naftali Bennett made an official announcement that the nation’s defence biological research institute has succeeded in the development of an antibody that neutralises the Coronavirus. Israel Institute of Biological research (IIBR) work has always been a closely guarded research and it is a secretive unit that works directly under the office of Israel’s Prime Minister.

The vaccine develops antibodies that attack the Coronavirus in a monoclonal way and neutralize it within the bodies of those sick. The monoclonal antibodies are a type of protein made in the laboratory that can bind to substances in the body. The Defence Minister Naftali Benett said, “the monoclonal neutralising antibody developed at IIBR can neutralise coronavirus inside carriers’ bodies”.

To put it in a simpler way, the antibody which is being isolated at the IIBR is monoclonal, which means it was acquired from a single recovered cell and therefore, is capable of being much powerful yielding a treatment. The IIBR is heading to the next stage, that is selling of their find and its researchers will begin approaching international companies and secure a contract to produce the antibody on a commercial scale. All legal procedures will be coordinated with the Defense Ministry.

In April, IIBR announced that it had begun testing its antibody-based vaccine prototype on rodents. They have also involved in plasma collection from recovered patients in the hope that this might help research. Praising the researchers for the achievement, Bennett said, “I am proud of the institute staff for this terrific breakthrough. Their creativity and the Jewish mind brought about this amazing achievement.
