This picture shows the shocking difference before and after the devastating floods in Nepal.
The colourful town once stood peacefully along the river, surrounded by green mountains. Now, the same area has been buried under mud, rocks and debris after a powerful flash flood.
The disaster struck Nepal’s Rasuwa district near the Tibet border on August 26. Homes, roads, bridges and other infrastructure were swept away within minutes. At least 95 people have been reported dead in Nepal, while hundreds of people remain missing.
Authorities believe an ice and rock avalanche, possibly linked to a recent earthquake and glacier collapse, triggered the sudden surge of water and debris. Rescue teams are searching for survivors, but damaged roads and high water levels are making the operation difficult.
