Meta happens to be one of the leading social media platforms in the world today as they directly operate Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. However, things are not been going smoothly for the social media giant as they have been firing human workforce left, right and centre.
Now the latest development are suggesting that the CEO of this social media giant Mark Zuckerberg was contemplating the idea of firing as much as 60% of the workforce in certain teams at one point.
However, the AI models that were employed to assist the internal situation within the company and the potential human feedback for such large scale firing was very concerning.
Apparently, the AI models that were trained to internally assess the situation within Meta in view of the layoffs, warned the company that there could be resistance from humans and complications in entirely shifting to AI. This report from AI reportedly stopped Mark Zuckerberg from firing 60% of certain teams within Meta.
Internal planning documents described two waves of cuts in May and November. Meta said the most drastic scenarios involved reductions of up to 60% in some teams, not company-wide.
Zuckerberg cancelled the second wave hours before the first cuts, and Meta reduced its workforce by 10% the next day.
