Megha Reddy Pooling ₹6,000 Cr To Buy Uncle’s Stake?

A major ownership deal is reportedly being planned at Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited. Managing Director and billionaire PV Krishna Reddy is seeking around $700 million, or nearly ₹6,650 crore, from global private credit investors to buy the remaining stake held by his uncle, Pamireddy Pitchi Reddy.

Krishna Reddy currently owns around 57% of Megha Engineering, while his uncle, who is the company’s Executive Chairman, holds the remaining 43% stake. The proposed transaction would help Krishna Reddy consolidate complete ownership of the company.

According to people familiar with the matter, a group of global private credit firms has started preliminary discussions on the financing structure. However, the talks are still at an early stage and the final terms have not been decided.

If completed, the transaction could become one of India’s biggest private credit deals of 2026. The proposed $700 million financing would also highlight the growing role of private credit in large corporate and promoter level transactions in India.

Megha Engineering was founded in Hyderabad in 1989 as a small fabrication unit. Over the years, it has grown into a major infrastructure company with projects across more than 20 countries, including tunnels, highways, ports, water systems and power assets.

The proposed deal is essentially a family ownership restructuring, with Krishna Reddy looking to acquire his uncle’s 43% holding. Since the financing discussions are still ongoing, the transaction is not yet final.

If the deal goes through, it would mark a significant change in the ownership structure of one of India’s major privately held infrastructure companies.
