Hyd Army Weapons Theft Solved: Who’s The Culprit?

As we had reported a couple of weeks ago, there was the highly interesting and unexpected incident that happened at an army Cantonment facility in Hyderabad, which shocked everyone.

There was a massive theft of army grand weapons from the Madras battalion in Hyderabad and this news became national sensation immediately.

Finally, the case has been solved, and the culprit has been identified by the Hyderabad police, and he is looking into the matter.

The accused was identified as Upputholla Mallesh, 37, a retired havildar of the 20 Battalion, Madras Regiment, and a resident of Jangam Reddy Pally, Nagarkurnool district.

According to the press note, Mallesh was a retired Army personnel of the 20 Battalion, Madras Regiment, Bollarum. He joined the Indian Army in 2010, worked for 16 years and retired from service on June 30, 2026.

The intention behind the theft preliminarily appeared to be from dissatisfaction out of early retirement from service according to the press note.

As per the accused’s plan, he came to the 20 Battalion, Madras Regiment, Bollarum area at about 11pm in the intervening night of August 30 and 31 and stole firearms and ammunition from the Kote room and magazine room.

The police investigation was supported by the army officials, so the whole scenario was identified and investigated rather quickly. The culprit is going to face the consequences big time now.
