The Indian stock market has crashed for the 38th consecutive day, and this has resulted in extreme losses amounting to more than ₹11 lakh crore in a single day.
A massive market sell-off wiped out ₹11 lakh crore on Thursday with the Sensex plunging over 1,200 points to slip below 71,400 and the Nifty 50 sinking more than 1.5% to 22,179.
It is being reported that RBI policy tightening and persistent selling, wiped out nearly ₹11 lakh crore from market capitalisation to take it below ₹460 lakh crore.
Some of the biggest companies in the country, including ITC, Adani Ports, IndiGo, Power Grid, and Reliance Industries dropped up to 4% to lead losses while other smaller companies also lost significantly.
Since the finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman announced 7.8% hike in the GDP in India, the market has crashed for the 38th consecutive day and today happens to be one of the biggest bloodbaths in the market.
The fact that more than ₹11 lakh crore was wiped out in a single trading day shows the extreme lengths of the market crash and it’s about time that certain resurrection measures must be taken.
