A cargo ship sinking in the Strait of Hormuz has grabbed attention online after videos showed iPhones, luxury perfume bottles and other goods floating in the water.
The ship, GFS Pride, reportedly sank on Wednesday after an attack. While Iran’s Revolutionary Guard claimed that the vessel hit a naval mine, maritime officials said it was struck by an unidentified projectile.
The ship was reportedly carrying around 2,500 containers of goods, including electronic items and perfumes. Videos shared online appear to show people in small boats collecting some of the floating items.
All 21 crew members were reportedly rescued safely, with no injuries reported. The incident comes at a time of growing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important routes for oil and gas shipments.
