Covid-19: 14 New Cases Of UK Strain Reported

A day after reporting six cases for the new UK variant genome of Covid-19, India has added another 14 more cases. The Union Health ministry has officially declared these numbers and with that the total cases of the UK strain touches 20.

The health ministry has set up 10 labs all over the country to detect this variant of virus that can be identified with genome sequencing. The labs are NIBMG Kolkata, ILS Bhubaneswar, NIV Pune, CCS Pune, CCMB Hyderabad, CDFD Hyderabad, In-STEM Bengaluru, NIMHANS Bengaluru, IGIB Delhi and NCDC Delhi. Also the testing has been scaled up for all the international passengers and the primary contacts of the travellers.

Meanwhile India has added 20,550 new positive cases yesterday and the total cases count has gone up to 1,02,44,853. Currently the active cases tally is 2,62,272 and total recoveries is 9,83,4141. 286 people have died in the last 24 hours and the total death count is 1,48,139.
