Vaccination From Jan 16: Who’ll Get On Priority?

Since the last few days, there has been a lot of buzz about the Covid-19 vaccine and here comes the major update. The vaccination drive is all set to begin from January 16th. The Centre is considering to give priority to the healthcare workers and the frontline workers, who are estimated to be around 3 crore across all the states.

After this priority will be given to those above 50 years and the under-50 population groups with co-morbidities numbering around 27 crore. However the Centre is yet to take a call on the vaccine for children.

These reports are coming out ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s conference with Chief Ministers and Governors of all the states and Union Territories. Modi is having a word with CMs and Governors and asked the details of vaccine dry run that were conducted over the last few days.
