‘I worked at Pizza Hut & Call Centre” – Miss India runner-up

There is a popular saying – “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. In a similar context, Manya Singh, who won VLCC Femina Miss India 2020 runner-up title, is inspiring people with her incredible story. Putting an analogy here, Manya surrealistically had less than a lemon to start out with. And now, the whole nation knows her for her sheer tenacity as she climbed to the top.

Daughter of a rickshaw driver, Manya Singh hails from Uttar Pradesh. Her rag to riches story is motivating and she also unveiled a few more details of her life today. She said that she came to Mumbai without a penny in hand. “Without giving a second thought, I just got on a train and came to Mumbai from Uttar Pradesh all by myself. I did not have money even to buy food at the time,” Manya said.

To make a living, Manya had to work at a Pizza Hut in Mumbai. “During my initial days in Mumbai, I did not have my ID proof like Aadhar or PAN card. But, I was only driven with my goals,” she added. After a few days, she even joined the call centre, solely to learn voice accent training.

When asked about her winning moment in a prestigious beauty pageant, Manya said that the feeling is overwhelming. “I am also unsure about what will my future be like. I’m excited to know as well,” Manya quoted.

The interviewer further asked about her family’s financial background to which she replied:” We use to not have money to pay my school fees. And there were many instances when I was asked to leave in the middle of my exam due to unpaid school fees”. Nevertheless, Manya overcame all these hurdles and became an example to her family, friends, and society by choosing her problems as a stepping stone.
