Climate change activist Greta Thunberg’s series of tweets on the ongoing Indian farmers’ protest is creating a ruckus all over the nation. Amid the disturbance caused, Thunberg shared another tweet about the issue and shared a toolkit asking people to join the protest or help people who are looking for ways to join the protest. Soon after, Delhi police have filed an FIR against her. They have charged her under Section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race) and Section 120B (criminal conspiracy).
Also, activists Disha Ravi was arrested, Nikita Jacob and Shantanu were given a non-bailable warrant in the Greta Thunberg ‘Toolkit’ case. The latter two were the editors of the toolkit that included a detailed roadmap to spread chaos in India. Jacob is also Aam Aadmi Party member. During an investigation, it was revealed that Jacob has edited documents before making it viral on social media domains. She later deleted her accounts and had reportedly gone underground. Disha Ravi, an activist, who got arrested in Bengaluru, had allegedly helped create the toolkit. Disha is a founding member of Fridays for Future’s India’s chapter, Greta Thunberg’s NGO.
Talking about Swedish ‘Andolanjeevi’ Greta Thunberg’s toolkit, it had step-by-step instructions on how her followers can ‘support’ farmers protests. The toolkit provided a detailed roadmap on how to plan nation-wide protests. In short, this toolkit guides people from any nation and place to join the protest.”Here is an updated toolkit by people on the ground in India if you want to help,” she wrote.
The earlier toolkit was deleted and therefore, Greta shared an updated link to allow everyone join the protest. She encouraged people worldwide to express their solidarity on the issue. She shared some pictures and videos with hashtags #FarmersProtest and #StandWithFarmers. She also suggests tweeting to handles like @PMOIndia, @nstomar (Minister of Agriculture & Farmer Welfare), heads of state of the protester as well as international organisations such as the International Monetary Fund, World Trade Organisation, UN’s Food and Agricultural Organisation as well as the World Bank.
Later, she went on to urge people to watch out and join Farmer’s March/Parade into Delhi. Greta suggested to NRIs to protest near Indian Embassies, government offices, media houses etc. After her arrest, Greta quickly retorted to the news in a tweet, stating, “I still #StandWithFarmers and support their peaceful protest. No amount of hate, threats or violations of human rights will ever change that. #FarmersProtest.”
