Covid India: 59,118 Cases In A Day; Highest Since Oct

As the coronavirus cases grow rapidly and uncontrollably, India witnessed an enormous spike of 59,118 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. And, till date, the country’s tally is 1,18,46,652 infections as per the government’s data.

Over the past couple of weeks, India is seeing a surge in infections and the single rise of 59K cases is the highest from mid-October last year. This is a huge alert for those who are still behind the rules of following Covid protocols such as wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.

We have 257 new fatalities, pushing India’s tally of cases to 1,18,46,652, death toll to 1,60,949. The Union health ministry said that there are 32,987 recoveries in the last 24 hours. India also detected a novel virus, double mutant, where cases are surging at a pace. The variant could result in “immune escape and increased infectivity”, as per the Union Health Ministry.
