With the number of cases across the state witnessing a spike each passing day, the Telangana government has been acting tough on the violators who leave theirs and others’ safety at bay in public places.
Between May 7th to 19th, the Telangana Police booked nearly 16,264 people who violated the government’s order to wear masks after stepping out of their residences. All the violators have been booked under the Disaster Management Act Sec 51(b). Each person has also been imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 for their violation.
These violators have been spotted using Artificial Intelligence where surveillance cameras tracked down those not wearing masks and alerted mobile patrols. The system was first introduced in the Cyberabad, Hyderabad and Rachakonda Commissionerates and later implemented across the state.
After identifying the violator in a particular area, the Command and Control Centre informs the cops in the Rakshak or Blue Colt police patrol teams, who would immediately approach the violators and either ensure that they wear a mask or file cases.
