Trains Back On Track From 1st June

After more than two months of lockdown, IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) is all set to bring some 200 trains back on track. The online booking for these trains has begun from 10 AM today. These tickets will be sold online via IRCTC official site or mobile application and they will not be issued at the ticket counter in Railway stations.

The 100 pair of trains will start operating from 1st June and Indian Railways has picked up some major cities and capitals to run these trains to and fro. All the coaches, including general compartments will be fully reserved and fares for the general and second seating will be the same.

The unreserved seats will be left unsold and Railways has decided to temporarily stop Tatkal booking. In view of COVID-19 outbreak, every passenger must undergo screening at respective stations and only passengers without symptoms will be allowed to travel in the trains. The official notification issued by Railway Ministry said that passengers should reach 90 minutes before the departure of their train to undergo thermal screening. Also, physical distancing will be implanted at Railway stations and inside the trains.

On another hand, several state governments have partially allowed bus services and Civil Aviation gave ‘calibrated’ permission for the resumption of domestic flights starting 25th May.
