Zomato CEO Complains About Swiggy; Gets Trolled!

Published by

Maharashtra government is currently implementing strict rules to constrain the spread of Coronavirus. The state government has limited the occupancy in theatres, shopping malls, weddings, other events, and restaurants. In view of the same, the government also issued new guidelines to food delivering apps in the state. However, Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal is surprised to see Swiggy being operational post 8 pm. It has made him share a screenshot from the app and put it on social media to seek clarification from Mumbai police. However, there are people who trolled him since the clarification from the police is not entirely in his favor.

Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal shared a tweet, and wrote, “Zomato is prepared to provide the essential food delivery service post 8 pm in Mumbai, but we are not doing so because we are abiding by the letter of the law. I see our competition is continuing to operate post 8pm. I urge @MumbaiPolice to please clarify the way forward here.”

Mumbai Police firmly responded saying, “Kindly read the Govt Notification. It says that Home Delivery is allowed but there is no time limit specified,” to which Deepinder again wrote, “Thank you @MumbaiPolice for the quick clarification at 9:54pm. You are the best.”

Depinder also apologized to Swiggy, saying, “Thank you. Mumbai, we are on tomorrow. We have received the notice at 9:54 pm. @swiggy_in – I am sorry, had no other choice. I love you”
