Yet again India has reported a big heap of new Covid-19 cases. In the last 24 hours 2,17,353 new infections have been reported while 1185 people have died. This is for the second consecutive day, India reported over two lakh cases in a single day and the sixth straight day of over 1.5 lakh daily cases.
With new cases the active cases count is also going up. Crossing 15 Lakh mark, currently the active cases count is 15,69,743 while the total death tally is 1,74,308. Maharashtra contributed 61,695 new cases to yesterday’s tally while 349 people have died in the state. Telangana has reported 3840 new cases and this is the biggest spike in the state since the outbreak.
Also the list of noted personalities getting infected for Covid-19 is on the rise. Congress leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala, Digvijaya Singh and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal have tested positive for the virus. Former minister and TRS leader Azmeera Chandulal passed away while getting treated for Covid-19.
26,34,76,625 samples have been tested as of April 15th, claimed ICMR and 11,72,23,509 people have received the vaccine.
