Indian Premier League is quite strict in its code of conduct. If anyone breaches IPL rules, the board takes severe action on them. Chennai Super Kings’ skipper MS Dhoni was fined Rs. 12 lakh in the first match against Delhi Capitals for maintaining a slow overrate. He could’ve faced suspension if he repeated the same feat in CSK’s second match against Punjab Kings. However, MSD learnt from his mistake and made his team bowl in-time during the last match.
The batting innings of Punjab was completed in less than 90 minutes last night. This is the first IPL match of this season where an innings was ended in less than 90 minutes. Moreover, CSK bowlers took eight wickets in the innings. MSD learnt quickly from his mistake and didn’t repeat it in the next game. Punjab made a low total of 106 in this match. Chennai chased it in 15.4 overs.
If you maintain a slow overrate, IPL board will first charge you with a heavy fine. If the mistake is repeated in the next couple of games, the captain may get suspended for two to four matches.
