Andre Russell’s bizarre dismissal trends on social media

Last night, we have witnessed a cracker of a game between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. CSK posted a huge total of 220 in the first innings. KKR had a shaky start while chasing this total and they were 31-5 at one point. That’s when Andre Russell came into the crease and almost snatched the game away from Chennai. However, young Sam Curran got Russell’s wicket in the most bizarre way and ended that supreme innings.

In the 12th over of the KKR innings, Sam Curran bowled a length delivery and Russell let it go thinking it was wide. But the ball went to hit the top of the leg stump and ended the brilliant 22-ball-54 inning of Russell. Russell was extremely shocked by the incident and didn’t get over it for a long time. After going back to the pavilion, he just sat on the stairs and gave a blank stare.

The pictures of Russell’s astonishment went viral on social media. It also became a meme-material for netizens. Here are a few responses to that surprising dismissal.
