Hattrick World Record: 3.46 Lakh Cases, 2624 Deaths In Single Day

Setting the new World Record in the highest-ever single-day spike, India reported 3.46 lakh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Thus India posted the world record for the third straight day. In a grim milestone, this is a hat-trick world record in Covid cases. According to the Union Health Ministry,

3,46,786 fresh Covid-19 cases were reported in the country on Friday. Out of the 17,53,569 samples tested, 3.46 lakh tested positive. The Covid-19 related deaths reported in the last 24 hours stood at 2624. The total death toll reached 1,89,544 and the cumulative count of Covid-19 cases touched 1,66,10,481. The active cases count is over 25 lakh. A 14.93 percent rise in the active cases count is startling. The situation is worse in Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka.

The alarming rise in new cases and the deaths are posing a major challenge the second-most populous country in the world. Meanwhile, the recovery rate is also good. 2,19,838 recoveries were reported on Friday alone. So far, 1.38 Crore people have successfully recovered from Covid. But a dip in the recovery rate is observed. The recovery rate fell to 83.92 percent.

On the other hand, India has upped the vaccination drive. 29,01,412 people were vaccinated on Friday alone. So far, 13,83,79,832 people have received the vaccine.
