Indian spinner Ravichander Ashwin who represents Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has pulled out of the tournament. Ashwin’s family members have tested positive for Covid-19 and in order to support and look after them, he has taken this decision.
“I would be taking a break from this years IPL from tomorrow. My family and extended family are putting up a fight against #COVID19 and I want to support them during these tough times. I expect to return to play if things go in the right direction. Thank you @DelhiCapitals,” tweeted Ashwin.
The Delhi Capitals team management has accepted Ashwin’s decision and he is relieved from the team.
This is a major blow to the Delhi Capitals team as Ashwin is in great form in recent times. He has been a crucial part of DC’s journey so far in the 2021 IPL. We have to see who will fill Ashwin’s shoes in the DC team.
