You might be wondering who is this generous heart to donate a massive Rs 7904 crore yet there is hardly any news about him and after six months, this has got revealed. Well he is Wipro Founder-Chairman Azim Premji and he donated Rs 22 crore per day to tackle the Covid-19 crisis in India.
According to EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2020, on 1 April 2020, Azim Premji Foundation (Rs 1,000 crore), Wipro (Rs 100 crore), and Wipro Enterprises (INR 25 crore) have committed Rs 1,125 crore and this amount is excluding the independent activities of Wipro and the usual philanthropic works of the Azim Premji Foundation.
This is unbelievable help and no one would have ever done such a massive donation in history. EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy also revealed the next rich businessmen to contribute their bit were HCL Technologies chairman Shiv Nadar and Reliance boss and India’s richest man Mukesh Ambani.
HCL’s Shiv donated Rs 795 crore while Ambani did Rs 458 crore.
But Azim Premji’s contribution is something that can’t be described in words and yet he is keeping it simple with no hungama in the media or anywhere. Well action should speak louder than words.
